From the days that are gone.

A collection of regionally specific objects,
books, furniture, and art gathered during
summer wanderings along the backroads
of the Pacific Northwest. Findings examines
the raw hardpan layers of humanity and
history that lies beneath the technotopian
clouds of the present.

Imogen Cunningham, born in Portland in 1883 and raised in Seattle, began her lifelong exploration of photography in the Pacific Northwest, where the soft light and lush natural forms profoundly shaped her vision. While studying at the University of Washington, she built her first darkroom and began experimenting with botanical subjects that would later define her celebrated Flora series. The Northwest’s misty atmosphere and abundance of plant life nurtured her sensitivity to light, texture, and organic structure, qualities that carried through her decades of work. Flora, a collection of her close studies of flowers and leaves, reveals this deep connection to nature through images that are both precise and poetic, transforming simple plants into intricate studies of form and spirit. She later became a member of the f/64 group in California, yet she frequently returned to the Pacific Northwest, maintaining close ties to the region that had first inspired her artistic vision.
