From the days that are gone.

A collection of regionally specific objects,
books, furniture, and art gathered during
summer wanderings along the backroads
of the Pacific Northwest. Findings examines
the raw hardpan layers of humanity and
history that lies beneath the technotopian
clouds of the present.

Antique U.S. Naval Bicorn
Late 19th Century.

$ 495

For most of history, life and sustenance in the Pacific Northwest centered on the water. Houses often faced it, and travel and trade depended on it. There were no roads as we know them today. The waterways were the highways, and those who controlled them controlled the region. This antique U.S. Naval officer’s or midshipman's bicorn hat dates from the late 19th to early 20th century and, by this time, would have been worn mainly for ceremonial occasions.
