From the days that are gone.

A collection of regionally specific objects,
books, furniture, and art gathered during
summer wanderings along the backroads
of the Pacific Northwest. Findings examines
the raw hardpan layers of humanity and
history that lies beneath the technotopian
clouds of the present.

Wicker Fishing Creel

$ 15

Creels are traditional handwoven baskets, typically made from willow or split reed and often equipped with leather straps and buckles for carrying and closure. They were historically lined with wet moss to keep fish cool and fresh through evaporative cooling, with caught fish inserted through a slot in the lid and secured by a leather strap. Today, while they are rarely used for fishing due to modern catch-and-release practices, vintage creels are cherished as rustic decor in cabins and lodges or as decorative storage for a variety of household items. This one has a broken leather strip but will look good doing nothing in a rustic interior.
