From the days that are gone.

A collection of regionally specific objects,
books, furniture, and art gathered during
summer wanderings along the backroads
of the Pacific Northwest. Findings examines
the raw hardpan layers of humanity and
history that lies beneath the technotopian
clouds of the present.

Display Cabinet

$ 750

This antique display case of unknown origin features a Georgian or Colonial-inspired facade. Yet closer inspection reveals slender, refined detailing, aligning it with Edwardian or later interpretations of earlier styles. Blessed with an abundance of fine wood but far from the cultural centers that set trends and defined eras, Northwest makers often combined elements from different periods, guided largely by their clients’ vague descriptions from travels. With advances in tooling and production, entrepreneurial individuals and companies began offering runs of furniture that continued and expanded this blending of elements, creating, in a sense, a style of its own.
